Diverse Abilities is looking for eager participants to step out of their comfort zone and get involved in one of its many fun and challenging events taking place during 2017.

Not only will those taking part feel amazing, but they will be raising vital funds for the charity that supports children and adults living with disabilities in Dorset.

Light up the Night for Diverse Abilities

Poole Park will see its first night time Dorset Neon Run on Saturday 8 April 2017 in aid of Diverse Abilities, the only charity that supports children and adults with disabilities in Dorset.

Those that sign up can run, dance or walk around the 5k route and will be provided with glow sticks, bracelets and neon paint to help light up the night and glow as they go!

Free Club for Children with Disabilities

Langside School, a special school for children between two and 19 located in Poole, launched the Caterpillar Club last year with the aim of providing pre-schoolers with disabilities an opportunity for free, fun and friendly play. Nearly a year later, the Caterpillar Club continues to do exactly that and opens its doors every Monday morning from 10am – 11.30am for children across Dorset and Hampshire.

Bournemouth based chef Sarah Ali Choudhury to appear on Channel 4 My Kitchen Rules this week.

Sarah Ali is an experienced chef and restaurant manager with an Indian and Caribbean background. Being a mother of four Sarah understands that time is precious. Meals need to be prepared quickly and easily and yet they need to taste delicious!

Sarah was recently selected to compete in a reality cooking show for Channel 4, My Kitchen Rules UK, which is on air during the month of October. The show is split into several parts with Sarah’s main part being aired this week, 17th – 21st of October.

Volunteer at Fun Events with Diverse Abilities this Year!

Would you like to come to a fun filled Dorset event and meet new people while helping Diverse Abilities at the same time? Well, why not volunteer at a community event this year? Volunteers receive free entry to the event and once you have finished helping out you can relax and enjoy the atmosphere!

Fiona Hansford, Corporate and Community Manager, said: “Volunteering gets you out and about; you can meet new people and learn a new skill, while making a difference to Diverse Abilities. It is also great for your CV. We would not be able to achieve everything we do without the help of our amazing volunteers. So why not be one of the fantastic people who make a difference this year!”

Volunteering duties and roles can vary depending on the type of event, your duties could include manning the stall, bucket collections or running a tombola or games.
